Event Details Devised by Peter Braithwaite: baritone, Nigel Foster: piano, this critical song-based performance is based on the infamous Degenerate Music (Entartete Musik) exhibition of 1938, intended by the Nazis to alert the German public to ‘inferior and ultimately dangerous’ forms of music, particularly jazz and Jewish music. Featuring works by Eisler, Brecht, Weill, Feuchtwanger, Hollaender, Tucholsky, Krenek and Schönberg, interspersed with spoken excerpts from the exhibition’s pamphlet, whilst video projections show scenes of everyday life during the Weimar Republic.Introduction by Dr Malcolm Miller Commemoration by Shalom Youth Quartet and Rabbi Roni Tabick.
