Yom HaShoah UK operates under the auspices of The Board of Deputies of British Jews.

This statement tells you about the data processing practices of the Board of Deputies of British Jews regarding this website, yomhashoah.org.uk ("Our Site"). We collect and retain only relevant personal data about you which is used exclusively for our objectives: (i) to hold an annual symbolic commemoration service at the UK national monument to the Holocaust, at the Dell in Hyde Park in London and other appropriate sites in the UK, (ii) to encourage all Synagogues to hold an annual Yom HaShoah commemoration event, (iii) to encourage schools and youth organisations to promote annual Yom HaShoah commemoration and to develop educational projects and activities related to the Holocaust, (iv) to help co-ordinate Yom HaShoah activities and events with the 'Forum' members and other organisations, in the days immediately leading up to, or after Yom HaShoah.  This policy applies to personal data we collect through our website only. We do not share your information with any other charities or external third parties. We are very mindful of the sensitivity of your personal data and we have taken all reasonable steps to ensure that your information is: accurate and up-to-date, not excessive, properly protected and held in the strictest confidence. If you wish your details to be removed from our database, or to update any of your details (or for any other reason outlined in Section 6 below) please contact us using the details as set out in Section 14 below.

Board of Deputies of British Jews understands that your privacy is important to you and that you care about how your personal data is used and shared online. We respect and value the privacy of everyone who visits Our Site, and who provides us with their personal data in whatever form.  We will only collect and use personal data in ways that are described here, and in a manner that is consistent with our obligations and your rights under the law.

  3. What Does This Policy Cover?This Privacy Policy applies (1) your use of Our Site, (2) all third party services that we work with and operate for the purposes of handling data. Our Site may contain links to other websites. Please note that we have no control over how your personal data is collected, stored, or used by other websites linked to from our website or other services and we advise you to check the privacy policies of any such websites before providing any personal data to them.

      7. The right to object to Us using your personal data for particular purposes; and

  5. What Data Do We Collect?
    1. on Our Site: Depending upon your use of Our Site, We may collect some or all of the following personal, and non-personal data (please also see section 13 on Our use of Cookies and similar technologies):
      1. User ID, first name surname, email
      2. Contact information such as postal addresses, email addresses and telephone numbers
      3. Event Attendee info such as name, venue, location, start date, end date, phone, email, seating block, group booking etc.
  6. How Do We Use Your Data
    1. All personal data is processed and stored securely. We will comply with Our obligations and safeguard your rights under the GDPR at all times. For more details on security see section 7, below.
      1. We shall not keep your personal data for any longer than is necessary in light of the purpose or purposes for which that personal data was originally collected, held and processed. Factors to consider include whether the type of event or process the data was held for still takes place, whether the primary data associated with you is still relevant (for example, mobile numbers).
      2. When your personal data is no longer required, all reasonable steps will be taken to erase or otherwise dispose of it without delay.

Our use of your personal data will always have a lawful basis, either because it is necessary for Our performance of a contract with you, because you have consented to Our use of your personal data (e.g. by subscribing to emails), or because it is in Our legitimate interests. Specifically, We may use your data for the following purposes:
      1. Emails - Replying to emails from you
      2. User ID, first name surname, email - registration and log-in
      3. Volunteer contact info - Coordination of volunteers prior, during and after events
      4. Communal Diary recipient contact info - Make recipients aware of dates of events happening
      5. Event Attendee contact info - Act as guest list for event, send details prior to event and follow up after event
      6. Photos Event publicity and archiving

With your permission and/or where permitted by law, We may also use your data for marketing purposes which may include contacting you by email, telephone, and/or post with information, news and offers on Our services. We will not, however, send you any unsolicited marketing or spam and will take all reasonable steps to ensure that We fully protect your rights and comply with Our obligations under the GDPR and the Privacy and Electronic Communications (EC Directive) Regulations 2003.
    4. Third parties (including YouTube) whose content appears on Our Site may use third party Cookies, as detailed below in section 13. Please refer to section 13 for more information on controlling Cookies. Please note that We do not control the activities of such third parties, nor the data they collect and use and advise you to check the privacy policies of any such third parties.
    5. You have the right to withdraw your consent to Us using your personal data at any time, and to request that We delete it.
    6. The accuracy and relevance of personal data shall be checked periodically, the period depending on the sensitivity of the data.
    7. If it is still relevant for the record to be held, We will attempt to contact the owner of the data to validate its accuracy. If We cannot validate its accuracy in a reasonable timeframe We will delete it.
  7. How and Where Do We Store Your Date?
    1. We only keep your personal data for as long as We need to in order to use it as described above in section 6, and/or for as long as We have your permission to keep it.
    2. Your data will only be stored in the EEA.
    3. Data security is very important to Us, and to protect your data We have taken suitable measures to safeguard and secure data collected through Our Site and from any other sources.
  8. Do We Share Your Data?
    1. Subject to section 8.2, We will not share any of your data with any third parties for any purposes. However, for operating Our Site, we use the services of data processors with whom we have data processing agreements compliant with the GDPR. In accordance with these agreements any data processor processes your personal data only on documented instructions from Us; ensures that persons authorised to process the personal data have committed themselves to confidentiality or are under an appropriate statutory obligation of confidentiality.
